Llanrwst Almshouse Museum

Llanrwst Almshouse Museum
Llanrwst Almshouse Museum

Established in 1610 by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, the almshouses provided housing for elderly members of the area until the 1970s. These historic buildings have recently been restored to provide a community museum.

Llanrwst Almhouse Museum provides a remarkable insight into bygone times in a typical Welsh market town.

  • Learn about the history of this historic market town;
  • Find out more about the shaking bridge;
  • Listen to the reminiscences of inhabitants of the town;
  • Visit a reconstructed early 17th Century almshouse room;
  • See the improvements made by the late 19th Century;
  • Enjoy a morning coffee in the sensory Victorian garden.

The Museum offers something new for each visit with a varied programme of temporary exhibitions.
