start content

This relief is aimed at high-street retailers in Wales, for example, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes – including those which have seen their rates increase significantly as a result of the 2017 revaluation undertaken by the independent Valuation Office Agency.  The Welsh Government will provide two tiers of non-domestic rates relief, of either £500 (Tier 1) or £1,500 (Tier 2), to eligible high street retailers occupying premises with a rateable value of £50,000 or less in the financial year 2017-18, subject to State Aid limits.

This relief will be allocated automatically to qualifying Ratepayers who are obliged to contact us to advise if the relief they have received (over a rolling 3 year period) exceeds the State Aid limit of 200,000 euros.

The attached document provides guidance on the operation and delivery of the Scheme.
