Conwy is a successful and ambitious Council committed to delivering quality services at the heart of our communities in North Wales. The role of Head of Education takes a strategic lead in delivering improved education standards and aspirations for our young people.
We are looking to provide maternity cover for this strategic role for up to 12 months. This is a rare opportunity for a flexible assignment to cover this post and we welcome applications from those interested in a secondment, fixed term contract, part-time or self-employed status. The successful candidate will start in October 2018 and have the skills and expertise to lead our local education community, working in partnership with the Regional Schools Improvement Service, GwE and in particular, with the leadership in local schools to ensure statutory functions of the Local Education Authority meet and exceed stated requirements.
Candidates must have a track record of senior management experience in a large and complex organisation with evidence of successful delivery of strategic outcomes. Able to demonstrate a record of achievement in leading and making a sustained contribution to strategic leadership, decision making, policy formulation, performance management and service delivery. The ability to establish productive and engaged partnerships within education settings is essential, along with an excellent track record of delivering organisational change. The post holder will play a key role within both the Education and Social Care strategic team, and also as a member of the Conwy’s senior management team. The language requirement for this post has been redesignated Welsh Desirable, however we welcome those wishing to improve their skills.
