On the 20th October 2017, as a requirement of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the Councils existing Dog Control Orders became a single Public Space Protection Order. This change was automatic in law.
The Council is now reviewing these dog controls, so is consulting on a proposed amended Public Space Protection Order which would last for 3 years, following which it will need to be reviewed.
The proposals aim to create a balance so that dog owners can enjoy their dogs and ensure their welfare, whilst at the same time others can still enjoy public spaces without interference or impact from dogs and irresponsible dog ownership.
The consultation is now closed and the responses have been analysed and are shown graphically in the document below.
The documents on this webpage provide details of the proposals. Following the consultation and consideration of responses, any next steps will be decided by meetings of the Economy and Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet.
The consultation started on 22/01/2018 and finished on 23/02/2018.
