What is 3D-Secure?
3D Secure (also known as Verified by Visa and MasterCard Secure Code) acts like a Chip & Pin for your online purchases and protects you by asking for a secret password.
Why has Conwy County Borough Council implemented 3D Secure?
Conwy County Borough Council treats your payment security with the highest priority and has implemented Payment Authentication (3D Secure) so that you have peace of mind that your transaction is being dealt with securely.
3D Secure allows your card issuer the ability to fully authenticate cardholders during the online purchase, reducing the likelihood of fraudulent usage.
How will I know if my card issuer is participating in the scheme?
If your card issuer is participating in the 3D Secure scheme and you have already enrolled, you will be prompted to enter your password during the transaction process.
If you are not enrolled you will be given the opportunity to join the scheme.
What if my card issuer is not currently participating in the scheme?
If your card issuer is not participating in the scheme you will not be given the opportunity to enrol and your payment will therefore not be processed.
