A carer is a person who looks after another person who, because of their illness or disability, has difficulty managing to live at home without unpaid assistance whether it be practical or emotional support.

  • Carers can be of any age and do not have to live with the person they care for.
  • Many carers are relatives, friends or neighbours of the people they care for and may not think of themselves as a carer but may have been looking after someone for a long time. Becoming a carer can be rewarding but at times may also feel overwhelming and demanding but there is support available.
  • Carers may be entitled to get support from Conwy County Borough Council and other organisations.
