Types of Childcare

Mother and child

Choosing Childcare is a very important and personal decision, so at Conwy Family Information Service we want to make sure that you have all the information you need so you can consider all the options and make an informed choice.

The best type of childcare for you depends on your family situation and the needs of your child.

As your child grows his or her care, play and educational needs will change and you may need to consider different types of childcare.

Allow yourself plenty of time to choose the right childcare for you.  If you are planning to return to work after the birth of your baby you should begin your search before the baby is born.

You should also be prepared to spend time settling your child in with your chosen carer.

Some childcare providers have a waiting list for places so it is important to think ahead about the type of care and provision that you would like to use.

Registered Childminders, Day Nurseries, Out of School Clubs, Playgroups and Cylch Meithrin are all registered and inspected by Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW)

Information on childcare and children and young people's organisations is available at www.conwy.gov.uk/ccie  or you can phone Conwy Family Information Service on 01492 577850 or come and see us at The Old School Lane Centre.
