Planning Enforcement

Excavator

Our Planning Enforcement Section investigates breaches of planning control (this is where a development does not have planning permission or does not meet planning conditions) and aims to sort out the breach.

When we investigate enforcement complaints, we will decide whether or not there is or has been a breach of planning control and what action to take.  The attached document provides information on our various enforcement powers, but is not a statement of law and does not describe every type of breach of planning control or enforcement action.

We also investigate complaints about:

  • Advertisements
  • Changes to listed buildings and conservation areas
  • The condition of land affecting an area
  • Section 106 obligations not being met
