General information on Conwy County Borough Council's IT Department.

The Information Technology Department is responsible for the delivery of a full range of computing services to Conwy County Borough Council, under the management of Stephen Jones, Head of Information Technology Services.

As well as supplying a range of IT services, the Department is also responsible for the Council’s overall IT Strategy and technical direction, enabling IT to be implemented and utilised in an effective and efficient manner.

The Department is split into three divisions: -

  • IT Services
  • IT Systems
  • IT Support
Information Technology – Services

The IT Services Division is headed by Paul Ubysz, IT Services Manager.

This division is responsible for Computer Operations, Wide Area Networking, Telephony, IT Infrastructure and Business Support functions. The division is split into 3 teams with responsibilities for specific areas:

  • Operations
  • Networks
  • Business Unit

Information Technology – Systems

The Systems Division is headed by Rob Brookes, IT Systems Manager.

The Systems Division is responsible for the procurement, development and support of computerised business solutions.

The Division has 3 teams, each with responsibilities for specific departments of the Authority.

Areas covered by IT Systems include: -

  • In-house development of systems
  • Third-party systems procurement
  • Feasibility studies
  • Systems analysis and design
  • Programming
  • Systems testing
  • System implementation and documentation
  • Maintenance and support
Information Technology – Technical Support

The IT Technical Support Division is headed by Neil Payne, IT Support Manager.

This Division is responsible for Desktop Computing, Hardware Support, Local Area Networking and the internal IT Service Desk.

Areas covered include: -

  • Intel Servers, PC’s and their associated peripherals, services and client software
  • Evaluation and testing
  • Configuration, design, build and installation
  • Maintenance and support
  • Problem, security and asset management
  • IT Service Desk
