Trading Standards

Conwy Trading Standards Service seeks to promote the quality of life and economic well being of consumers and businesses.

This is accomplished by:

• Encouraging confident and knowledgeable consumers through the provision of advice, information and education.

• Supporting competitiveness and enterprise in the community by working in partnership with local businesses, trade and industry.

• Ensuring a fair, safe and just environment by securing compliance with legislation and codes of practice

We seek to achieve these objectives by enforcing some 80 Acts of Parliament, as well as hundreds of pieces of subordinate legislation. The list of statutory duties is generally categorised into the broad areas of legislation concerned with the quality, quantity, marketing, description, animal health and welfare, fair trading and trade practices and safety of a whole range of goods and services.

In addition to the areas of enforcement traditionally associated with Trading Standards, a consumer advice service is also provided.
