Emergency Planning

Flooding

Welcome to the Emergency Planning Unit Internet Site. Here you will find a brief introduction to our department and many interesting sections. Should you require any further information regarding Emergency Planning within Conwy, please contact us, we will be more than happy to help.

The emergency planning unit is responsible for ensuring relevant emergency plans and procedures are in place to deal with an emergency incident within the County Borough of Conwy. This involves partnership working with various agencies and organisations both internally and externally.

By viewing the following pages you will find out more information about the work we do.

Emergency Planning supported by New Welsh Website 26/06/2007

The emergency planning community now has a central source of information on civil contingencies in Wales. The Wales Resilience website is a window into work being undertaken at the pan-Wales level, the Local Resilience Forum level and within individual agencies. As well as providing emergency planners with the latest news and best practice, the site is also a source of information for the Welsh public on what to do during an emergency.

Civil Contingencies Act 2004

The CCA 2004 provides a common framework for civil protection activities across the UK. As a Category 1 responder this authority is expected to ensure arrangements are in place to be able to perform its functions so far as necessary or reasonable to respond to an emergency.

Information for Businesses

The Civil Contingencies Act (2004) places a duty on local authorities to promote Business Continuity Management within their local communities. Without development of a Business Continuity Plan you may be putting your business at risk of failure. If you feel you need any help with this, please do not hesitate in contacting us, we are happy to provide advice.

Emergencies

Serious and life threatening emergencies, incidents or crisis are thankfully very rare, however there is still a responsibility for all organisations and individuals to ensure that we are prepared to meet any challenges that may arise. Please see this section for various hazards and threats which would involve Emergency Planning.
