Improving Affordable Housing Delivery in Conwy through an Effective Negotiation Process.
Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) believes everyone should have the opportunity of a decent home, which they can afford, within a sustainable mixed community. Provision of housing should meet the needs of the whole community, including those whose needs are not met by the housing market, and should include a good balance of housing types and tenures.
Affordable housing includes social rented housing and intermediate housing (eg shared equity) provided for households whose needs are not met by the housing market. CCBC also supports some households (e.g. key workers, social tenants) in their aspirations to buy a home by providing shared equity homes.
The key objective of the affordable housing 'One Stop Shop' section is to promote a more effective negotiation process to improve the delivery and take-up of affordable housing in Conwy. The site will not only provide clear information but also act as a valuable resource for County Councillors, Ward Councillors, community groups, land owners, developers and individual residents
These webpages provide developers, stakeholders and the public with easy access to the priority procedures, guidance, plans, strategies, policies and evidence base produced by the CCBC and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) in delivering affordable housing for the community.
Developing an effective negotiating process through early negotiation and pre-planning application discussions are encouraged by the Council, to not only explain procedures and relevant publications detailed on the webpages, but to also understand any issues that you may have in delivering affordable housing on-site or obtaining an affordable housing unit.
There is also an opportunity for the public to submit suggested sites for affordable housing consideration by using an interactive mapping tool.
