Beer

The Licensing Act 2003 establishes a single integrated scheme for licensing premises used for the supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment and provision of late night refreshment.


Charitable Collections

Licences or permits are required by people collecting for charity, both in the street and house-to-house. The Council has responsibility for granting licences and permits for several types of Charitable Collections.

Designated Public Drinking Areas

Beer

Sections 12-16 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 provides local authorities with an adoptive power to restrict anti-social drinking in designated public places. Door Supervisors

Responsibility for the licensing of door supervisors is no longer a Local Authority function, it has been passed to the Security Industry Authority (SIA).


Gambling Act 2005

Cards

The Gambling Act 2005 provided a new regime for regulating gambling and betting. Conwy County Borough Council is required, under the Act, to licence premises where gambling takes place. The Council is also required to licence certain other activities such as registering small society lotteries and pools promoters.


Hackney Carriages Vehicles (Grant / Renewal)

A Hackney Carriage is any vehicle capable of carrying up to eight passengers used for the carriage of passengers for reward / benefit, either pre-booked or hailed in the street.


Markets and Fairs

Colwyn Bay Market

In the County Borough of Conwy there are two regular Street Markets operated by the Licensing Service. These are in Colwyn Bay and Llanwrst. For information about these markets and how to contact us, please browse this section.


Private Hire Driver - New Application

A licence is required before any person can drive a private hire vehicle. Licenses are issued subject to proof of eligibility (age, driving licence, criminal records check, medical assessment etc.).


Street Naming and Property Numbering
