What is the difference between European & External Funding?

Summary (optional)
start content

European Funding is grant money that comes from the European Commission (EC) – Conwy can access the funding because the UK is a member state of the EC. EU funding programmes work in seven year funding cycles. The funding period covered is usually shown in the title of the programmes.

Access to the funds varies according to the issues they have been created to deal with. In most cases individuals and businesses will access the funds through 'projects' being run by local, regional or national organisations.

External Funding is all other non-European grant money operating on a national basis across Wales or the UK. This includes funds such as the Big Lottery fund; grants from the UK and Welsh Governments and charitable organisations and trusts.

How do you find the right funding for your project or event?

There is a vast range of funding opportunities available including grants, loans and awards from local, regional and national UK government, European funding, charitable trusts and corporate sponsors. CCBC have access to a funding tool that provides information on over 8,000 funding schemes – please contact us via the Contact Page if you would like more information on this service.
