Why Conwy

We recognise that we are only as successful as the people we employ, and we are committed to valuing our team. We offer way more than just a salary that’s paid on time.

Holiday

When you start working for us you will benefit from 26 days holiday plus eight bank holidays. If you are needed to work on bank holidays you will benefit from enhanced pay.

After five years continuous service, you will be rewarded with an additional five days holiday a year. After ten years continuous service, you will benefit from another two days holiday a year totalling 33 days holiday a year. Add that to the 8 bank holiday’s and you could have 41 paid holiday’s a year.

If you work part time, your holiday is calculated in proportion to the hours you work, known as pro rata. Please note; teachers and youth workers holiday may vary, but this will be explained in your job advert.

If you are an Armed Forces Reservist or Cadet, you are entitled to additional paid time off for attendance at training camp.

Work Life Balance

Depending on the job, we offer lots of working options to ensure you can balance your work and home life in harmony.

All this and more are supported by our family friendly and special leave policies. For some jobs we offer hybrid working. We will equip you with the tools to do your job from the most appropriate place including state of the art offices, out in the community as well as at home.

Staff attendance is important, but we understand that for those times you find yourself unwell, both physically and mentally, we will support you with sick pay. We will help your return to work with an occupational health service, rapid access physiotherapy, and a 24/7 helpline for advice and counselling. We also offer cashback healthcare schemes.

Health and Wellbeing

Your health and wellbeing is important to us and we are committed to nurturing a culture where you are supported in work and at home.

We continually review what we offer our staff, but right now, to help you keep you well, we offer - an interactive wellbeing app, free eye tests for all computer users, discounted Ffit Conwy memberships and a cycle to work lease scheme.

Money and Lifestyle

We want to help make your money go further, by offering financial wellbeing tools. We continually review what we have on offer for our staff, this includes:

A competitive pay structure that’s reviewed every year, enhancements for hours outside of normal working hours, a generous pension scheme and a shared cost additional voluntary contributions scheme to top up your pension. For further information on our pension scheme, please visit the LPGS website (www.lgpsmember.org).

Lots of our jobs need you to travel around the county, so we also offer a green car lease scheme, business mileage and discounts for Arriva bus travel.

If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got Conwy Rewards and the Vectis App. A one stop portal to keep you up to date with all your staff benefits including discounted shopping, gift vouchers, cinema tickets and more.
