Welcome
Welcome to the Conwy Employment Hub Annual Report for 2024-25.
The year began with significant challenges as we learned that our funding from the Welsh Government for the Communities for Work Plus (CfW+) programme would be reduced by 35%. This created a period of uncertainty; however, we were fortunate to later receive positive news that additional funding had been secured from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the UKSPF Conwy Key Funds. Both streams form part of the UK’s Levelling Up agenda to support local economic growth.
This additional funding allowed us not only to continue all existing programmes but also to introduce a range of new initiatives. These included the Assisted Community Employment (ACE) programme in partnership with Crest, a Targeted Employability Numeracy Support programme, and supporting the Homeless Prevention Team with a dedicated Homeless Employment Mentor. It also ensured that our existing staff could remain in post for another year, with several new team members brought in to support the expansion of services.
Communities for Work Plus remained the Hub’s core programme throughout the year. We provided one-to-one mentoring support to 345 unemployed residents across Conwy County, helping 174 into employment. The remaining 171 continue to receive ongoing support through training, counselling, and tailored employability assistance.
The following charts illustrate the wide-ranging support we’ve delivered this year, and I am incredibly proud of the team’s hard work and the positive impact they’ve made:
Looking ahead, we’ve received confirmation of continued CfW+ funding and secured additional UK Government support through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, meaning the coming year promises to be equally busy and rewarding.
