The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new jobs for people who are at risk of long term unemployment, and it provides invaluable work experience with training, which has the potential to lead to full time employment.

We currently have 27 Kickstart positions available to fill now:

Develop skills and experience from organising exhibitions and

workshops and the Northern Eye International Photography Festival


Box Office Support

learn how a theatre operates day to day from ticket sales to promotion, and admin duties to ancillary items such as meals and drinks.  2 positions available.


Admin Assistant – Galw Gofal

Co-ordinate and support this front-line service offering 24/7 call monitoring including admin and answering calls.  2 positions available.


Business Support Officer – Data

Dealing with documentation for foster carers – sensitive, highly confidential information so accuracy, professionalism and discretion are essential as is fluency in English and Welsh


Business Support Officer – Childcare & Fostering

Administrative support for a sensitive role which allows you to be closely involved with the team, shadow meetings, take minutes and carry out business support tasks.


Family Centre Team Assistant

Meet and greet families and professionals at family centres, undertake admin duties and support group working eg baby club and teenage groups.  5 positions available.


Employability Support Assistant

admin support including marketing, training and engagement, help prepare and administer training and community events


Leisure Assistant

learn customer service skills, lifeguarding duties and deliver sports camps. 9 positions  available


Trainee Boat Operative

learn how to skipper boats, gain maritime experience and qualifications


Benefits/Financial Assessment Trainee

General admin for the team that calculates and pays housing benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Education Benefits including data entry, speaking with customers and processing and notification of applications


Finance Trainee – Systems and Processing

Working with the invoice processing team and the technical accountancy team this lets you get an up-close look at how a large finance department works


Finance Trainee – Income Reconciliation

Be part of a small team responsible for income reconciliation and compliance including helping manage financial IT systems, using excel spreadsheets and reporting on income by the Council


Revenues Assistant (DiPS) Trainee – Local Taxation

Control and co-ordination of all incoming mail and departmental correspondence and gain experience in the use of equipment to scan and index post/documentation
