The OPUS project is aimed at supporting individuals aged 25 and over, who are considered to be furthest from the labour market with multiple, complex barriers to employment, specifically long-term unemployed and/or economically inactive (not in education or training).

Who can OPUS work with?

Individuals may be eligible for support if they live in Conwy county (and not residing in a Communities First Area) and are:

Economically inactive (aged 25 and over), not in education or training, who have complex barriers to employment that include:

  • Low or no skills
  • A work limiting health condition or disability (including alcohol or substance misuse)
  • Care or childcare responsibilities
  • Aged 54 and over
  • From a jobless household

Long-Term Unemployed (aged 25 and over), who have complex barriers to employment that include:

  • Low or no skills
  • A work limiting health condition or disability (including substance or alcohol misuse)
  • Are from a BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) group

What does OPUS offer?

OPUS will provide support and interventions that will equip the participants with the appropriate skills to gain sustainable employment. These include:

  • One to one support
  • Work Star assessments and completion of an action plan
  • Group work activities to improve confidence and self esteem
  • Training opportunities to improve skills
  • Volunteering and work placements to gain practical work experience
  • Job search and CV writing skillsInterview techniques
