Provisions for schools in Conwy - June 2020

We would like to thank parents and carers for their continued support and co-operation during the ongoing challenges posed by coronavirus (Covid-19)

We appreciate you have a number of questions about returning to school, here are a few frequently asked questions

From 29th June 2020 there will be two provisions in schools:

  1. The continuation of emergency childcare provision for Keyworkers’ children (including nursery children). If eligible, parents and carers will need to book online to access free childcare support on days when they are working and there is no alternative childcare provision. However from 22nd June the weekend childcare provision will cease. Childcare will be offered over the school summer holidays, but Welsh Government have stated that this will not be provided by schools.

We are currently looking at what the Local Authority will offer over the school summer holidays and we will update this page when details are confirmed.

  2. The commencement of the Check in, catch up and prepare provision which is available for all school age children (not nursery or post 16) during the normal school hours day.  This is voluntary for children to attend and as schools are working with a maximum 30% capacity, children will be on a rota basis – allowing a % of children to attend alongside the emergency childcare provision.

The video clip below will give you an insight into how schools have been set up in order to adhere to Welsh Government guidelines
