If you need improve to your property, you can apply for an interest free loan. There are two interest free schemes available – Home Improvement Loan and Property Improvement Loan.
Home Improvement Loan (HIL)
The HIL scheme provides finance to homeowners, including landlords for home improvements.

The improvements funded through the scheme must contribute to making the property ‘Warm, Safe and/or Secure’.
Loans can be £1,000 to £35,000 per unit of accommodation. All loans are secured as first or second charges on the land registry title.
The loan is interest free however, an administration charge will be applied up to the value of £500. This fee may be paid upfront or added to the loan applied for.

Property Improvement Loan
The Property Improvement Loan scheme (funded by Welsh Government) also provides interest free loans to fund the renovation or improvement of property that has been empty for 6 months or more, including non-residential property, into new residences.
