Earlier this year, the Council asked library services customers to submit their views on the Mobile Library and the Home Library, to make sure that the services on offer are the services that people need, and are the best use of limited resources.
The Mobile Library and the Home Library provide services to many vulnerable or isolated members of our communities, but some Mobile Library stops have only one or no regular customers. The cost of running these services is high, the vehicles are old and unreliable, and funding is reducing.
On 9th July, Conwy’s Cabinet supported a proposal to merge the Mobile and Home Library services, and to concentrate Mobile Library stops in communities that are remote from library buildings with limited public transport.
From 13th September, mobile library routes will change and a number of stops will be withdrawn. See below for the new routes and timetables.
If your service is being withdrawn, and you have limited mobility and are unable to visit a library building, the home library service may be suitable for you. Books, which will be selected based on your preferences, will be delivered to your home every 4 weeks. Please contact Conwy Library on 01492 576089 or email firstname.lastname@example.org about this service.
Customers currently using the Home Library Service will not be affected by the changes.
