Course aims and objectives:

The aim of this course is to consider how you can work with individuals who may be aggressive or violent and how to manage distressed behaviour.

It will examine the following areas: what is distressed behaviour? Who can present distressed behaviour? Reasons for distressed behaviour, prediction and prevention, undertaking proper risk assessments, how to respond appropriately, verbal responses and body language.

The course also advises you on the best ways of keeping themselves and other individuals safe in unsafe situations and why it is important to try to understand that there may be unknown reasons for distressed behaviour.

Course details:

Duration of course: 50 minutes including Assessment Quiz

  1. Watch through each video chapter. You will need to answer the questions within a chapter correctly, then submit your answers at the end of the chapter to complete it.
  2. Once you have completed all available chapters, you will be able to take the Assessment Quiz and complete the Feedback form.
  3. A PDF Certification of Completion showing the Learner’s name, date of submission and pass mark can be sent to Managers by request to sc.training@conwy.gov.uk.

Completing the course can count towards evidence needed for Continuing Professional Development for re-registration requirements and contribute towards the underpinning knowledge for All Wales Induction Framework for Health & Social Care and QCF.
