Learning Outcomes:

Participants will:

  • Understand what resilience and vulnerability are and what they look like in the Foster Care environment
  • Understand protective factors for individuals, foster families and communities
  • Know the significance of emotional intelligence, problem solving and optimism
  • Have a chance to consider vulnerability and resilience factors for children in their care.
  • Consider how to use the 5 ways to Wellbeing to increase children and young people's coping abilities.

Course aims and objectives

This course explores how Foster Carers can develop an approach that  builds on strengths to help children and young people in their care to deal with adversity and cope with change.
