Course aims and objectives:
By completing this training session you will be able to:
- Obtain an understanding of the government’s Preventing Extremism Agenda and the duty it imposes on individuals working in selected institutions/organisations.
- Appreciate that Prevent is based on vulnerability and safeguarding individuals from violent extremist ideology, irrespective of what the cause or sympathy is.
- Have some misconceptions and common misunderstandings around Prevent clarified. In particular the spying accusations that Prevent has been stigmatised with since its inception.
- Obtain an awareness of the common traits/behaviours/indicators evident in those individuals at risk of violent extremist persuasion.
