Course aims and objectives:

Course overview

The course teaches/refreshes the lifesaving skills and includes:

  • Understand the role of the first aider, acting safely, cross infection, recording incidents, available equipment
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking, wounded or suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, small cuts, grazes, minor burns and scalds
  • Formative and Summative assessments will take place during the course and this will verify that the learning objectives have been achieved
