Art scheme looking for budding young artists
Conwy County Borough Council Arts Service is again looking for budding young artists to join the successful Criw Celf scheme.
Criw Celf is an art club for children aged between 9 and 14 who have shown artistic promise and/or a special interest in art to practice and develop their art skills.
Around 60 children who are successful in their application, will attend a series of six special art master classes with professional artists and a gallery or studio visit.
The scheme runs across North Wales and over 150 children have taken part in Conwy County since 2010. Thanks to a subsidy from the Arts Council of Wales and Conwy County Borough Council each child selected will pay a fee of only £38. Bursaries are also available to support children who have free school meals.
Sian Young, Conwy’s Arts Development Officer said, “The Criw Celf master class sessions have proved to be a real success, both with the students who take part and the professional artists who facilitate the sessions. We’ve seen a real development in the skills and passion of the young artists.”
“We’re now recruiting for new members so if you know a child who dreams of becoming an artist, then why not put their name forward?”
Every child nominated will need to submit examples of their work. The deadline for applications is 8 December.
