Case at Llandudno Magistrates' Court

At Llandudno Magistrate’s Court yesterday (10/09/19), Jamie Seager Scaffolding Services Ltd of Commodore House, 51 Conway Road, Colwyn Bay was convicted in its absence of breaching a Noise Abatement Notice issued under Section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The company was fined £500.00 and ordered to pay £783.24 costs with a victim surcharge of £50.00 making a total of £1333.24.

The Offence took place at the Old Slaughter House Yard, Ronald Avenue, Llandudno Junction on 26/03/19. A Noise Abatement Notice had been served on the Scaffolding business in November 2018 following complaints from local residents.

Following serving of the Abatement Notice further noise complaints were received and an investigation by Conwy County Borough Council Regulatory and Housing Services Department determined that a breach of the Notice had occurred.

Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory said, “Residents have a right to be protected against noise and, as this case shows, we will take action when a Noise Abatement Notice is breached and there continues to be disregard for the quality of life for neighbours.”
