Coed Pella Offices near completion

In just a couple of weeks, Conwy County Borough Council will receive the keys to the new Coed Pella offices in Colwyn Bay.

The new four-storey office building on Conway Road in Colwyn Bay will house key frontline services, including Social Services, Housing, Regulatory Services and Community Development Services.

The intention is to have public-facing services at a central, more accessible location, making it easier for people to access the services they need.  And Coed Pella will play a significant role in modernising and streamlining the Council’s operations, as well as playing a part in the regeneration of the town.

Cllr Gareth Jones, Council Leader said, “Doing nothing was not an option.  We had to solve a number of issues with our office accommodation, including the lease expiring at Dinerth Road in Rhos on Sea and a backlog of maintenance at the Civic Offices and other buildings.

“When this project started in 2013 the Council had twenty-five offices; the aim has been to streamline and consolidate the Council’s premises to just three main offices – making savings by disposing of properties.”

“So when we get the keys to Coed Pella later this month, it will replace a number of outdated buildings across the county - offering a great environment for residents to access a wide range of services all under one roof.”

The new office building has been developed and financed by Muse Developments Ltd.

Under a mortgage-type arrangement, the Council will rent the offices on a 40-year lease, with the option to buy it at the end.

Council Services will start moving into Coed Pella service-by-service from November onwards.

Coed Pella will be open to the public from mid-November 2018.
