Conwy Council is a winner in the Social Care Accolades 2018
Conwy County Borough Council’s Social Services has won a prestigious Social Care Accolade from Social Care Wales at a Ceremony held in Cardiff City Hall on the 13 September 2018.
The Accolade was awarded for leading a multiagency initiative to reduce child sexual exploitation in the area, which involves colleagues from BCUHB, Education, North Wales Police and Conwy Youth Services.
The initiative involved developing bespoke training opportunities for all agencies, developing a multi-agency Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Forum, CSE bulletin and developing the Armour program for young people.
The Social Care Accolades recognise, celebrate and share excellent practice by organisations, groups or teams in social work, social care or early years and childcare.
The judges said it was the best example of joint working they had seen in Wales.
Cllr Cheryl Carlisle, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Children, Families & Safeguarding said, “It’s a real honour for our initiative to be awarded this accolade. It aims to make a real difference in the lives of our service users and their families.”
“We’re very proud of the team who have worked so hard and put so much effort into this initiative. It’s a reflection of the great work that goes on in Conwy Council’s Social Services.”
