Conwy County Borough Council seeks new Chief Executive
After a decade in the role, and a total of 29 years working in local government, Conwy Council’s Chief Executive, Iwan Davies, has announced his intention to retire later this year.
He said, “It has been a big decision to make, especially given how much I love this job, but the timing feels right for me and for the Council. I aim to finish by the end of this year, but the precise date will depend on the timetable for recruitment of my successor.”
A recruitment campaign to find his successor has been launched this week.
The advertisement will run for 7 weeks and interviews are expected to take place in October.
Council Leader, Cllr Charlie McCoubrey said: “It’s a wrench to see Iwan go after many years of dedicated service, but we’re looking forward to welcoming a new Chief Executive.
“We’re a Council with a real passion and pride in the county and its potential. It’s a demanding role and we face many challenges ahead.
“It’s going to take exceptional leadership to meet these challenges head on. We’re looking for someone with the skill set, drive and ambition to deliver the Council’s priorities and make meaningful improvements to the lives of our residents, especially the most vulnerable.”
