Council appoints Strategic Director

Conwy County Borough Council has appointed a new Strategic Director of Finance and Resources and Section 151 Officer.

Amanda Hughes was offered the post of Strategic Director of Finance and Resources and Section 151 Officer at a meeting of Conwy County Borough Council on Friday 19 March 2021. 

Iwan Davies, Chief Executive said, “The Council has been very fortunate to attract such a high calibre candidate. I am sure that Amanda will make a valuable contribution to Conwy and we all look forward to working with her.”

Amanda will take over from Andrew Kirkham, who is retiring following a 34 year career in local government.

Amanda lives in Penmaenmawr and is currently an Audit Manager and Board member at Audit Wales.   She is a Chartered Accountant and has previously held finance roles at Countryside Council for Wales and at  both Anglesey and Gwynedd Councils.

“I am delighted to be joining Conwy County Borough Council and am excited at the prospect of working with both members and officers in delivering the Council’s priorities.”

Amanda is expected to take up the Strategic Director post at Conwy Council on 18 June 2021.
