Don't miss out on the Summer Reading Challenge at Conwy County Libraries

The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge is underway in Conwy County libraries.

The Summer Reading Challenge invites 4-12 year olds to borrow and read any six library books over the summer holidays and taking part is free.  Around 1,400 children are already registered in Conwy County and with the Challenge running until Saturday 14 September there is still time to join in and collect a medal.

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge, ‘Space Chase’, introduces children to the Rockets family who live on a satellite station in space. When books start to disappear from the local Moon Library, the family set off on a mission to save them from alien bandits.

As part of the Summer Reading Challenge, children will get a ‘Space Chase’ mission folder and will be able to collect stickers as they complete each book, and a medal and certificate when they complete the challenge. Every child in Conwy County who completes the Challenge by 28 August will be entered into a prize draw to win tickets to see “Tom Gates Live on Stage” at Venue Cymru in September.

Children can also log on to the Reading Agency website to take part in games and competitions.

Cllr Mark Baker, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Heritage and Culture, said, “The Summer Reading challenge is proving really popular in Conwy County, and is a great opportunity for children to discover the activities and resources that are available in their local library.”
