Doors Open to Conwy's Architectural Treasures

A number of historical buildings, gardens, interesting and unusual locations throughout Conwy will be open to the public for free this September.

As part of CADW’s 'Open Doors' scheme, 26 buildings and locations across Conwy will open their doors to the public as part of an annual programme that celebrates Wales’ architectural heritage. There will be plenty to do around the County this September as part of Creu Conwy, the culture strategy for Conwy County. Discover performances, installations across Open Doors properties, libraries and open spaces by visiting www.conwyculture.com.

Throughout September, events and activities will be held at locations across the county with opportunities for local residents and visitors to get a taste of the area’s history and heritage. This year’s locations include TAPE Community Arts Centre, Old Colwyn. TAPE is a registered charity which offers free arts and media projects. During ‘Open Doors’ TAPE will be running free taster workshops, such as ‘Then & Now’ which is a local heritage session on September 22nd.

Councillor Aaron Wynne, Conwy Council's Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said:

“With special access to some of the county's loveliest buildings, Open Doors encourages visitors to discover the unique treasures of Conwy's past. I think people will take pleasure in discovering the historic sites and untold stories right outside their front door.”

Details about the attractions that will be open as part of 'Open Doors' have been published in a leaflet produced by Conwy County Borough Council. Copies are available from Tourist Information Centres and heritage sites across Conwy.

You can download the leaflet and find more information about Open Doors at Conwy Culture | Open Doors 2022  or Open Doors | Cadw (gov.wales).

Cultural organisations can still register their organisation for inclusion at Open Doors | Cadw (gov.wales)
