Demolition work starts today (12/10/20) at Meadow Lodge in Colwyn Bay and is scheduled to take about 4 weeks in total.
The derelict buildings on the site will be demolished - with the bricks, concrete and tarmac used in the construction of the new building, and other materials such as timber and slates salvaged and recycled and the site made ready for the proposed Children’s Assessment Centre.
Cllr Cheryl Carlisle, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Social Care, said: It’s fantastic to see work underway on this derelict site to turn it into a useful and much needed facility.”
“Our plans for a Children’s Assessment Centre will bring professional help and support into one location. Being able to provide assessment and care for Conwy children in our County is fantastic news for our families and young people.”
A planning application to construct the new Children’s Assessment Centre on the site has been submitted to the planning authority, and is subject to the usual planning processes. The project is a partnership between Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
