Prosecution for driving a vehicle in excess of maximum weight

At Llandudno Magistrates Court on 9 October 2018, Mr David Paul Roberts, also known as Goldstar Scaffolding of 128 Vale Street, Denbigh, LL16 3BS pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle that was in excess of both its gross maximum weight and its rear axle maximum weight.

Mr Roberts was fined £540.00, ordered to pay £550.00 costs, and a victim surcharge of £54.00. A total of £1,144.00.

An operation was carried out between North Wales Police, Denbighshire Trading Standards and Conwy Trading Standards on 3 August 2018 at the weighbridge testing site along the A525 between Rhuddlan and St Asaph.

The gross maximum weight of the vehicle driven by Mr Roberts was 3500kg but the vehicle was found to be weighing 5280kg, which was 1780kg overloaded (50.85%).
