Pupils contribute to Education Officer appointment

Conwy County Borough Council has appointed an Interim Chief Education Officer to cover the maternity leave of the current postholder.

A school panel, comprising headteachers and pupils, took part in the recruitment and interview process. Dafydd Ifans was offered the post at a meeting of the Senior Employment Committee on Friday 28 September 2018.

Dafydd joins Conwy from his current post as service manager for Education, Effectiveness and Infrastructure at Wrexham County Borough Council. Dafydd is a fluent Welsh Speaker and has previously been a Primary School Head Teacher.

Conwy’s Strategic Director for Social Care and Education, Jenny Williams, said, “I’d like to thank the Headteachers and young people who contributed to the appointment process.

“The Council has been very fortunate to attract such a high calibre candidate and I am sure that Dafydd will make a valuable contribution to Conwy and I look forward to working with him.”
