Road Works: A547, Conway Road, Mochdre

Works start: 31 July 2020
Works finish: 5 August 2020

We are pleased to let you know that the Council has prioritised Conway Road for road surface improvements.

What is happening?
We have been repairing the road, to prepare for road surface dressing.

The road will not be closed for this work. Traffic will be managed by Stop/Go boards from the junction of Glan-y-Wern Road to Dinerth Road, with a convoy vehicle escorting traffic through the sites.

What is road surface dressing?
First we spray bitumen binder (a sticky tar-like substance) on a road surface, then spread stone chippings on top. After this the surface is rolled to push the stones in, but some loose stones will stay on the top. Vehicles driving over the new road surface will push these in to finish the surface. We will then sweep the area after a week to clear up any loose stones.

This process requires us to leave loose stones for one week while the traffic pushes them into the surface. We will put up temporary speed restriction signs to keep traffic speeds low. But if drivers ignore the speed limit it’s possible that fast moving vehicles could throw up loose stones. We strongly recommend if possible you park your vehicle elsewhere during this time, to avoid damage from stones.

Our contractor will comply with social distancing measures. Please keep your distance from the workers.

If you need more information, please contact the Environment, Roads & Facilities Advice Team on erf@conwy.gov.uk or call 01492 575337.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your patience while we carry out this work.
