Road resurfacing: Old Highway & Cherry Tree Lane, Colwyn Bay

Work starts:     Friday 1 November 2019
Work finishes: Friday 15 November 2019 (weather permitting)

We will be resurfacing Old Highway, from the junction with Llanrwst Road to beyond the junction with Ffordd Isaf.
The lower end of Cherry Tree Lane, from Old Highway to the junction with Bryn Hafod, is also included in this scheme.

The road will be closed at times during this work. Please follow the signed diversion on the day and allow extra time for your journey. There will be access for pedestrians, but we recommend using a different route if possible.

We apologise for the inconvenience – thank you for your patience while we carry out this essential improvement work.

What is resurfacing?

We resurface a road when the surface layer can no longer be repaired.

Step 1 - remove the existing surface (this is called planing)
Step 2 - clean the surface with a mechanical sweeper
Step 3 - lay a bond coating, to make sure the new surface sticks
Step 4 - lay the new surface
Step 5 - compact and level the new surface with rollers
Step 6 - repaint the road markings

The new road surface will provide a smoother, quieter ride and will be a long lasting benefit to the community.
