Rough Sleepers Count 2019

Conwy County Borough Council is taking part in a national Rough Sleepers Count and is asking the public to help.

To get a clearer idea of how many people are sleeping rough in Wales, the Welsh Government is organising a count to take place over one night in November.

Conwy Council’s Housing Strategy team is taking part in this count and is asking local residents for information to help focus the search on the night.

Please can local residents to get in touch, before 31 October, with any information about where they’ve seen or heard about people sleeping rough.

The purpose of the count is to get a better understanding of the scale of the issue and whether it’s changing over time, so that policies and services can be better planned.

Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, Conwy’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for housing, said: “If you know where there are people sleeping rough please let us know, you could make a real difference. We need to make sure the scale of the issue in Conwy is accurately reflected in the figures we send to Welsh Government.”

Anyone found sleeping rough on the night of the count will be offered assistance.

If you have information about rough sleepers that could help the count, please phone (01492) 576274, email housingstrategy@conwy.gov.uk, write to Conwy County Borough Council, PO Box 1, Conwy LL30 9GN or visit www.streetlink.org.uk.

Concerned citizens can alert us to rough sleepers throughout the year via Streetlink or by contacting our homeless team at Conwy Housing Solutions on 0300 124 0050.
