The UK Government has pledged to house 20,000 Syrian refugees by 2020 and Conwy County Borough Council is supporting this pledge by committing to accommodate a number of families.

Our Syrian Refugee Project Officer is keen to speak to private rented sector landlords who may have homes to rent within Conwy County.

All Agreements are initially between the landlord and Conwy Council and will give a guaranteed monthly rental for a fixed term.

The Syrian refugees are supported by the British Red Cross and Conwy Council to settle and integrate into the community and, over time, that support is gradually reduced and the refugees are encouraged to find their own private sector accommodation or enter into their own tenancy directly with the landlord.  Conwy County currently accommodates 2 Syrian families who have settled in well, with a third family arriving in the next few months.

Conwy County currently accommodates 2 Syrian families who have settled in well, with 3 more families expected before the end of 2018

Any private landlord wishing for more information about the humanitarian support project helping Syrian refugees and their families settle within Conwy County, please contact Jackie Moss, jackie.moss@denbighshire.gov.uk, call 01824 708393 / 07748931008, or Lynsey Blackford, lynsey.blackford@conwy.gov.uk, call 01492 576264.
