Course overview
The course teaches/refreshes the lifesaving skills and includes:
- Understand the role of the first aider, acting safely, cross infection, recording incidents, available equipment
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to access and use an AED (Defibrillator)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking, wounded or suffering from shock.
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, small cuts, grazes, minor burns and scalds
- Formative and Summative assessments will take place during the course and this will verify that the learning objectives have been achieved.
