Questions to Cabinet

Members of the public can ask a question at a meeting of the Cabinet using the form below. Read the full protocol.

Who can ask a question?

  • anyone who lives, works or studies within the County Borough of Conwy.
  • a representative of an organisations, community group or business operating within the County Borough.

Submitting a question

Questions must be submitted at least ten clear working days before the meeting.  Only one question may be submitted per person, or on behalf of an organisation, for each Cabinet meeting.

Your question must be concise and must relate to a matter for which Cabinet has responsibility.

What happens then?

If your question is accepted, your name and question will be published on the Cabinet agenda and you will be invited to attend the Cabinet meeting to ask your question (time limits apply).

Meetings of the Cabinet are recorded and livestreamed for public viewing.

Ordinarily, a response will be provided at the meeting but if that’s not possible a written response may be provided after the meeting.

What won’t be accepted?

A question will not be accepted if it relates to any of the following:

  • is not about a matter for which Cabinet has responsibility;
  • is defamatory, frivolous, vexatious, discriminatory or offensive;
  • relates to named members or employees of the Council, an individual service complaint, or personal information about any person;
  • relates to judicial or quasi-judicial matters, regulatory or enforcement matters, matters which are currently being investigated, or individual planning, licensing or grant applications or appeals;
  • requires the disclosure of confidential or exempt information, as described in the Council’s Access to Information Procedure Rules;
  • is substantially the same as a question considered at a recent meeting;
  • is party political in nature; or
  • is otherwise inappropriate for consideration at a public Cabinet meeting.
