AI in Recruitment
Our Commitment to Fair and Ethical Recruitment
We use a digital system to manage recruitment, but AI does not make decisions about candidates. All shortlisting, interviews, and final decisions are made by people.
We use AI only to:
- Improve clarity and inclusivity in job adverts and descriptions.
- Create relevant interview questions.
- Develop engaging recruitment content.
Our guiding principles:
- Fairness: AI is used inclusively and without bias.
- Human Oversight: All decisions are made by hiring managers and HR.
- Privacy: Only anonymised or public data is used.
- Transparency: We clearly explain how AI is used.
- Ethics: AI use aligns with our values and legal standards.
- Learning: We support staff in using AI responsibly and staying informed.
This is a living document and will be updated as AI evolves.
AI Guidance for Job Applicants
Using AI Responsibly in Your Application
We recognise that tools like ChatGPT and Copilot can help you express your ideas, improve writing, and prepare for interviews. However, your application must reflect your own skills, experiences, and potential.
You may use AI to:
- Develop and structure your ideas.
- Research Conwy Council’s services and values.
- Explore industry trends relevant to your experience.
- Check grammar and spelling.
- Practise interview questions and refine STAR responses.
You must not use AI to:
- Exaggerate or invent qualifications or experience.
- Submit AI-generated content without personalising it.
- Complete assessments or tests.
- Input confidential or sensitive data.
- Rely on AI during interviews—we want to hear from you directly.
Key Message:
AI can support your application, but it should not replace your authentic voice. Be honest, be yourself, and let your real strengths shine. If you use AI, please declare how you’ve used it. There’s no expectation to use AI—it's entirely your choice.
