Royal Welsh Way (A470)

A section of the Royal Welsh Way (A470) will close on Monday 26 January for important maintenance work on the bridge beneath the road.

Conwy County Borough Council will close the left lane southbound on The Royal Welsh Way from approximately 75m north of Black Cat roundabout on Monday to complete important maintenance work on the bridge due to a damaged support bearing underneath the road. The Royal Welsh Way will remain open in both directions during the work.

The damaged bearing is 1 of 8 on the section of the bridge and of 32 on the whole bridge. The affected bearing is directly underneath the closed section of road.

The closure will last 8 weeks, with work to temporarily support the structure completed in late March 2026. Conwy County Borough Council will announce further maintenance when plans have been completed.
