Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Tests

As part of the application process all drivers must undertake an information session and pass either the Hackney Carriage or Private Hire test. This takes place every 4 weeks and consists of an information section that lasts approximately 30 minutes and the test where 45 minutes is allowed for Private Hire applicants and 1 hour for Hackney carriage applicants.

You do not need to have applied to become a driver or operator before completing a test.

You must bring ID to the information session, failure to do so will result in you being unable to attend and a refund will be unavailable.

 
Booking must take place 5 days before the date of the session.

Session starts at 10am with tests (and retests) commencing at 10:30. 

Preparation

Once you have applied to sit your test, you will received an email confirming your session date along with videos to watch and important information to read. It is vital that you do this before attending.
