Information for candidates and agents

Voting in person at a Polling Station

Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on polling day, 7 May 2026.

Before you go to vote, check where your polling station is. It might not be the closest one to where to you live, and it might have changed since the last time you voted.

You can only vote in person at your allocated polling station.

Your polling station address will be on your polling card. We will send the card by post a few weeks before polling day.
Your polling card is only for information, so don't worry if you lose it or forget to take it with you. You can vote without it so long as your name is on the electoral register.

You will not need to show photo ID to vote at a polling station in the election on 7 May 2026.

Find your polling station: Find your polling station | Where Do I Vote?

Accessible Voting

We aim to make all polling stations accessible to voters with a disability, for example:

  • we provide ramps where needed
  • the Presiding Officer is available to help you
  • a polling booth adapted for wheelchair users
  • a friend or relative can be with you if you need help
  • there are chairs for people who cannot stand for long periods

Polling station staff can also provide aids to help blind or partially sighted voters:

If you need support on election day, please ask the polling station staff, who will be happy to help.
