Course aims and objectives:
As a result of completing this training Foster Carers Can Learn About
- Brain reorganisation during adolescence- issues of risk taking, power, autonomy and control
- The impact of trauma on Information processing and perception
- The importance of and significance of power dynamics in human relationship
- The importance of how power is managed by parents/carers through a child’s ongoing development
- Trauma and issues of power
- Exploring our own relationship with power and control
- Ways of responding in the face of adolescent resistant, angry or coercive behaviour that enables both foster carer and the adolescent to feel empowered and which will gain cooperation.
