As a result of completing this training Foster Carers Can Learn About

• Brain reorganisation during adolescence- issues of risk taking, power, autonomy and control
• The impact of trauma on Information processing and perception
• The importance of and significance of power dynamics in human relationship
• The importance of how power is managed by parents/carers through a child’s ongoing development
• Trauma and issues of power
• Exploring our own relationship with power and control
• Ways of responding in the face of adolescent resistant, angry or coercive behaviour that enables both foster carer and the adolescent to feel empowered and which will gain cooperation.
