Closure Order - Easy Shop, Madoc St, Llandudno
Illegal tobacco seized
Conwy Council Trading Standards inspected the retail premises Easy Shop at 42 Madoc Street in Llandudno on Wednesday 22nd July as part of an operation targeting illegal tobacco and vapes across the county.
There have been numerous complaints and enforcement visits previously to the premises, including reports of sales of vapes and tobacco to children, discovery of false walls and hidden storage, use of a ‘stash car’ parked nearby and seizures of illicit goods.
On this inspection, Trading Standards Officers seized a quantity of illegal tobacco and issued a closure notice under Section 76 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
On Thursday 23rd July Llandudno Magistrates Court, granted a Closure Order which will require the premises to be closed for a period of 3 months.
Cllr Stephen Price, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Regulatory and Audit, said: “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community and maintaining a fair and equitable trading environment.
“Those businesses who supply illegal tobacco and vapes are harmful to legitimate local businesses and are not welcome in Conwy. The message to anyone operating, planning to operate, or knowingly letting a property to such a business is we will use the full force of the law and close you down.”

Easy access to cheap tobacco increases the chances of children acquiring a lifelong addiction. Illegal vapes and tobacco may contain far more than the permitted levels of nicotine as well as unregulated and dangerous contaminants which will have life changing consequences.
