Conwy Council celebrates inclusive employment at 'Jobs and Joy'

Jobs and Joy
Conwy County Borough Council is working with IMPACT (Improving Adult Care Together) and recently teamed up to host a Jobs and Joy event focusing on strengthening inclusive employment across the county.
The session, at Bryn Euryn Nurseries and Café, brought together people with lived experience of learning disabilities, who generously shared their ideas and experiences to help shape how the Council supports people into meaningful work.
Everyone took part in relaxed, accessible activities that focused on strengths and what brings joy - what people enjoy doing, what they’re great at, and the things that can make finding work harder. Their thoughts and suggestions will play an important role in making the Council’s job processes easier to navigate and more welcoming for everyone.
Participants also talked openly about what helps people thrive in the workplace, as well as the challenges that can make work feel difficult at times. These honest conversations offered real insight into the realities of finding and keeping paid work.
Councillor Hannah Fleet, Cabinet Member for Integrated Adult Services and HR, said: “We’re committed to becoming a more inclusive employer and opening up access to meaningful, paid opportunities. Events like Jobs and Joy are so valuable - they help us really understand people’s experiences and make sure our approach reflects their needs, strengths and aspirations.”
The insights gathered from the event, along with IMPACT’s ongoing work with participants, will continue to guide and strengthen inclusive employment pathways within Conwy County Borough Council.
