The Welsh Government is expanding free school meals to all secondary school pupils in households claiming Universal Credit, with no income limit, starting with children in years 7 and 8.

Conwy County Borough Council is now accepting applications for this expanded free school meal offer.

If you have already received confirmation that you are eligible for free school meals, you don’t need to take any further action.

If you have not received confirmation and believe your child may be eligible, please visit the Council’s website to apply so that your eligibility can be assessed - www.conwy.gov.uk/expandedfreeschoolmeals - or call the Benefit Team on 01492 576491.

Eligible pupils will begin receiving free school meals from 2 November 2026.

Conwy residents are always urged to check they are getting the welfare benefits they are entitled to. The Welfare Rights team can do a free benefits check to find out what you can access – www.conwy.gov.uk/welfarerights

The Free School Meals Expansion offer is currently available to eligible pupils in years 7 and 8 only.
